Chestnut Hill by Moonlight: Howling at the Wolf Moon
Chestnut Hill by Moonlight invites guests to experience a magical full-moon evening on the farm. The evening will start with a moonlit hike looking for stars, followed by a cozy campfire.
According to Native American folklore, the January full moon is known as the “Wolf Moon” because wolves would often be heard howling at night. Though there are no wolves in this area, their close relatives the coyotes do roam the woods! Learn to track these wily animals as well as their wild neighbors such as skunks, squirrels, and raccoons.
Ranger Bob, a local scoutmaster and devoted member of the Trustees community will serve as the guide for the evening, leading attendees on a guided hike by moonlight. Hikes can make wishes as stars pop out one by one, and look for familiar constellations. Campfires may be a part of the event, depending on weather and current drought conditions.
This family-friendly event welcomes adults and children.
