On the weekend, you can hop on one of their free wagons to get out to the fields to cut-your-own Christmas tree. Richardson is dog-friendly, so you’re also welcome to walk. You can walk or wagon your tree back to the sales barn, where it’s tagged, and plastic-wrapped for you to transport home. While you wait, enjoy a free cup of hot chocolate or coffee indoors. You’ll also find fresh, homemade donuts, wreaths, and decorations to take home.

Williams Tree Farm – Rockton

Williams Tree Farm in Rockton, Illinois has been offering cut-your-own Christmas trees and pre-cut trees near Chicago for over 70 years. They have several fields offering different tree varieties. You can walk or take a horse-drawn wagon ride to the field of your choice. Before or after you’ve selected that perfect tree, there’s also a play tractor station, a children’s farm, and a kiddie train to enjoy. Inside, you can warm up at the Cabin Café, gift shop, or candy corner.  

Ben’s Christmas Tree Farm – Harvard

Ben’s Christmas Tree Farm has thousands of trees in nine varieties. These organically-grown trees range from six to twelve feet tall. You can walk to the fields or choose from a horse-drawn or tractor-pulled wagon on select weekends.  You may also get a surprise visit from Santa. Ben’s is pet-friendly, so your four-legged family members are welcome to get in on the festivities. In addition to the cut-your-own Christmas trees, you can also visit farm animals, enjoy free hot chocolate, and coffee. There are 55-acres of fun to enjoy.

Moehling Christmas Tree Farm – Woodstock

Moehling Christmas Tree Farm in Woodstock looks straight out of a Christmas card. You can cut your own Christmas tree or they will cut it for you for an additional fee. Please note that Moehling is cash-only. Checks may also be accepted. You will also need to bring your own twine to tie your tree to your car. Farm helpers are on hand to assist you but they ask that you bring your own supplies. Inside, you can cozy up and shop their gift shop filled with handmade goods from local vendors. While you shop, sip on some free hot chocolate or coffee. 

Ziegler Christmas Tree Farm – Elgin

Ziegler Christmas Tree Farm in Elgin offers six different varieties of trees. You’re able to cut your own Christmas tree at this family-owned staple. Check their website to see if Santa will be making an appearance on any weekend dates this season. Zieglar offers free saws, twine, and assistance shaking and securing your tree. This farm is also dog-friendly. 

Christmas Tree Farms Near Chicago in the Western Suburbs

Puckerville Farms – Lemont

Puckerville Farms offers pre-cut, fresh trees from Michigan. If you’re looking for that family-friendly, farm experience without needing to cut-your-own tree, Puckerville Farm is a great option. This farm offers a quicker, tree buying experience with a more festive, farm feel, than your average city parking lot. Inside their gift shop, you can also find handmade wreaths and garlands.

Abbey Farms – Aurora

Abbey Farms in Batavia offers both pre-cut and cut-your-own Christmas trees. They also have saws available with a $10 cash deposit. Check their website to make a free time slot reservation. Once you’re there, you’re given a map of all the open tree fields letting you know where each tree variety is located. Take a free wagon ride or venture out on a walk through the fields. When you’re done, Abbey Farms will assist you in shaking and roping your tree at no charge. While you wait, warm up in the pine tree café or have drinks on the patio.

Kringle’s Tree Factory – New Lennox 

Kringle’s Tree Factory offers pre-cut trees, brought in fresh from Michigan daily throughout the season. If you aren’t able to transport your tree home, they also offer local delivery for a fee. After you pick your favorite tree, they are shaken and tied to your car for free. On Saturdays, you may also see a surprise visit from Santa.

Bengston Christmas Tree Farm – Peotone

At Bengston Christmas Tree Farm, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped right into the North Pole. They have acres of cut-your-own Christmas trees available in a wide variety. You can bring your own saw or use one of theirs for a small deposit. Twine and help with roping your tree are available for free. Shaking and wrap are also available for a small fee. Once you find your perfect tree, they will also assist you in bringing it to your car. While you wait for your tree, you can warm up by the wood-burning fire. Hot chocolate, apple cider donuts, and tree stands are also available to purchase.  

Anderson Tree Farm – Plainfield

Anderson Tree Farm has a wide variety of trees you can pick up or cut on your own. As a working farm, the whole family will enjoy seeing horses and live animals grazing outside. After you choose your tree, there are helpers on-hand to assist you with roping and wrapping your tree to-go.
