Slideshow: Avignon with Kids—Things to Do and Where to Eat

Avignon is one of the major cities of Provence, in the South of France. Inhabited since the Stone Age, home of the Popes when they fled Rome during the schism, and center of artists, Avignon is beautiful and rich in history. While Avignon is not a spectacularly kid friendly town, it's worth a visit for its beauty and historical significance and there's enough to entertain kids to make it work.

The main attraction is the Pont d'Avignon, famous from the children's song. The audio tour tells the history of the ridge as well as the city of Avignon. A carousel, a ferris wheel and a few parks are additional kid-friendly attractions. We loved the nightlife of Avignon where outdoor dining and street performers creative a festive environment.
Finding cheap eats in Avignon is extremely challenging, so we were happy to discover Flunch, a chain of cafeteria's offering inexpensive family-friendly food and even a playroom.
