13th Annual Brooklyn Children's Book Fair
Meet your favorite Brooklyn authors and illustrators at the annual Brooklyn Children's Book Fair. This free event features author readings, illustrator presentations, and book-related art-making opportunities with over forty creators presenting storybooks, picture books, and graphic novels.
Schedule:
12pm: Author and illustrator Julia Sarcone-Roach will read from her new picture book There Are No Bears in This Bakery, which uses mixed media to illustrate Muffin the tabby cat's investigation into a mysterious intruder at Little Bear Bakery.
12:30pm: Author and illustrator Tad Hills will show children how to draw his humorous rivals-turned-friends Duck and Goose, from the eponymous picture book series.
1pm: Author Hannah Stark will teach young attendees about the importance of treating others with kindness during her reading of Trucker and Train, a picture book about a big, intimidating truck and a bigger, but also friendly, train.
1:30pm: Illustrator Lori Richmond will draw the mischievous Pinky, a flamingo who escapes from his cage at the zoo to join a young girl on a school field trip, in Pinky Got Out!.
2pm: Author and illustrator Hyewon Yum will read from her book Saturday Is Swimming Day, reminding children that it's fine to take your time while learning how to do new things, as the little girl in Yum's picture book learns to overcome her fear of Saturday morning swimming lessons.
2:30pm: Author and illustrator John Patrick Green will show children how to draw the hardworking cats from his graphic novel series Kitten Construction Company.
