Winter & Holiday Camps for Houston Kids

Whether you're a working parent or a busy stay-at-home mom and are looking for activities for the kids during winter break, there are tons of options across the city. We've rounded up some fun enrichment camps for kids of all ages with focuses ranging from sports to science.

Camp Zoofari - The Houston Zoo

Dates: Dec. 26-30
Hours: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Cost: $60-$90
Camp is divided into age groups and kids get to tour the zoo's exhibits, feed the giraffes, ride the carousel and meet some of the animals up close. 

Houston SPCA Critter Camp - Memorial

Ages: Second-eighth graders
Dates: Dec. 19-23, 26-30
Hours: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Cost: $85 per session
For the animal-loving kids out there, Critter Camp teaches campers about how animals communicate, the ins-and-outs of a veterinarian's office, and how best take care of furry family members.

Mad Science of Houston - Bellaire

Mad Science offers various camps for kids this winter - Secret Agent Lab and How Does it Work? for school-age children and Water Works and Sprouting Scientists for pre-schoolers. Before and after care services are available. 

Alliance Fencing Academy - The Woodlands & West Houston

Campers learn beginner's fencing techniques in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Competitive camps are also available for experienced fencers.

Sam Houston Equestrian Center - Pearland

Dates: Dec. 19-23, 26-30, Jan. 2-3
Hours: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (full day), 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (half day)
Cost: $135 (daily for a full day), $65 (daily for a half day)
Campers learn hands-on horse care, equipment care, and riding skills based on their current abilities.

K2 Academy of Kids Sports - Cypress

Hours: 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. or 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

K2 presents Santa's Workshop for school-age kids at its facility that features a 10,000-square-foot gym and 7,000-square-foot playground. 

YMCA - All locations
Ages: 5-15
Hours: Varies per location, but typical hours are 7 a.m.-6 p.m.
To sign a child up for a holiday camp, parents must be registered program or facility members. Learn how to join here. Activities include arts and crafts, physical fitness, and field trips.

Houston Dynamo - South Houston

Kids can participate in several winter camps offered by the Houston Dynamos, from goalkeeper camp to co-ed casual play camps. Prices and locations vary depending on the camp.

Houston Gymnastics Academy - Bellaire

Houston Gymnastics offers multiple camps for toddlers up to pre-teens, and camps are packed with physical activities from obstacle courses to games. Campers ages 3-4 need to be fully potty trained.

Houston Arboretum and Nature Center - West Houston

The arboretum's Winter Wonders camps are full of animal encounters, learning about regional plants, playing outdoor games, and nature hikes around the 155-acre property.

Kidventure - Various locations

Hours: 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Cost: $75 a day
Kidventure is an outdoor adventure camp with four Houston-area locations, including Missouri City and West and southwest facilities. Campers can participate in one day of camp (each day has a specific theme) or come for a full week of fun - like snowing on 30,000 pounds of "snow."

The Health Museum - Museum District

Campers spend the week playing games, working on arts and crafts, solving puzzles, and learning about health and science. Camps are divided by age group and range in focus from robotics to "mini medical school."
