Discover how to make a beaded bracelet with current resident artist Lakea Shepard.

Find inspiration from Lakea’s “head sculptures,” which use traditional African textile techniques including beading, weaving, and basketry. Then, mix and match beads from our large collection to create a one-of-a-kind piece. Play with incorporating patterns, text, or charms into your wearable bracelet.  You’ll leave sporting a wearable piece of art.

HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free drop-in event held on the first Saturday of every month. Each month, a teaching artist demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. Families and children of all ages are welcome to come any time between 11 AM and 3 PM and participate in a 15 – 20-minute activity.
