Schools out! Ceate and innovate with the Nassau County Museum of Art during Break for Art. Inspired by the art on view and in the sculpture garden, children and their adult caregivers will create together. Pre-registration is required: Session 1: 11am-12:30pm Session 2: 1-2:30pm. 

Three days of family art making inspired by the art on view in the museum’s exhibition The Big Picture: Photography’s Moment and Lunar New Year. A different project will be offered every day.

  • Tuesday, April  10 – Mini Museum! Become an art collector for the day and build your own miniature gallery!
  • Wednesday, April 11 – Mosaic Masterpiece! Explore the cultural contributions of Arab-Americans through family artmaking, music, food and a calligraphy demonstration by local artist Reem Hussein. Create your own mosaics with symmetrical patterns or designs inspired by flowers and plants in nature. This program is part of NCMA’s World Cultures Series.
  • Thursday, April 13 – Fabric Fabrication! Using Leonora Carrington’s epic tapestry of a griffin as inspiration, families will make their own mythological creatures using fabric, yarn, ribbons, and buttons. 

Note: Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver 18 years or older.
