Planting Fields Arboretum offers activities and learning experiences for families and kids of all ages.
Join Planting Fields and discover the wonders of nature, the creatures and plants that make their home here, and the fascinating history of Coe Hall. Registration is required, drop-ins are welcome upon availability.
Pressing Plants
SUNDAY, JULY 28
12 – 2 PM
Tour the Synoptic Garden and identify a wide variety of plants that are arranged alphabetically by their botanical names. Kids will learn about the history and process of pressing flowers before creating a bookmark with pressed flowers and foliage. All materials are provided.
Coe Hall Exploration
SUNDAY, AUGUST 11
12 – 2 PM
Explore Coe Hall and use a checklist to identify the many magnificent artifacts and features, including original stained glass windows imported from Hever Castle in England. Stay and create your very own stained glass masterpiece.
Fairies & Gnomes
SUNDAY, AUGUST 25
12 – 2 PM
Experience the magic surrounding the Children’s Playhouse. Enjoy face painting and make your own miniature fairy & gnome garden. One garden kit per registration includes a container with soil, one miniature plant and figurine. Families are encouraged to bring their own materials to help bring their gardens to life!
