Tribeca's Beloved Moomah Set to Reopen... Sort Of
As New Yorkers, we realize that businesses (especially kid-centric ones) are constantly opening and closing. But it really broke our hearts when one of our favorite haunts, Moomah, announced that it was shutting its doors at the end of March.
But it's a woman prerogative to change her mind, and that's just what Tracey Stewart did. Due to public outcry, she's decided to reopen Moomah, albeit in a different form.
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
On May 1, the former restaurant/crafts and play space will reopen to the public as Moomah Kiosk, a tiny cafe serving snacks and beverages. Moomah's signature Do-It-Together Art Kits will be available for purchase, but you won't be able to do them in-house. (You can always take them to go and work on them at nearby Pier 25.)
Part of Moomah will be transformed into the office for Stewart's new venture, D.I.T. Magazine (expect lots of cool crafts and activities, and expert parenting advice). She'll also be working with various nonprofits that serve kids and families.
If you're wondering what's going to happen to the Funky Forest (the first question my six-year-old asked), take heart: That interactive play room, the crafts space and the cafe will still be available for private birthday party bookings. We realize running a successful small business is tough, especially in NYC. But we hope Moomah's able to make this new model work!
