Of course the season isn't all about stuff, it's about spending quality time together, too. So we keep filling our Holiday Fun Guides with the best ways to celebrate in NYC, Westchester, Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut. Cool new posts this week include roundups of the best holiday light displays in Southern Westchester and Connecticut, a list of holiday train shows in Westchester and historical Christmas celebrations in New Jersey. We also added some great posts to our Holiday Gift Guide like at-home DIY presents, great new kids' and YA books and our favorite educational construction kits.

Here's what else we covered on the NYC site this week:

OUR LATEST VIDEOS

We added some posts to our Holiday Fun Guide: A roundup of the best seasonal theater for families, including five shows under $15; our rave review of the circus spectacle Mother Africa at the New Victory Theater; and a slide show of gorgeous holiday light displays in Southern Westchester, all less than an hour away from Manhattan by car.

Looking for great gifts or awesome ma-and-pa places to shop for kids? Our Local Holiday Shopping Guide is packed with ideas, including a brand-new post on educational and fun construction kits.

We continued our coverage of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn with a roundup of our favorite family-friendly restaurants in the neighborhood.

Our biweekly links post included exciting news about Governors Island, the opening date for the Prospect Park ice-skating rinks and a pair of FREE summer camps currently accepting applications.

We uncovered NYC's biggest brunch secret: Delicious meals with no wait at four swanky Manhattan hotels.

Although it's information we hope you'll never need to use, we posted about pediatric emergency rooms in Manhattan that specialize in treating children.

Best bets for the weekend include amazing photo ops at Santa's Winter Garden, the annual Unsilent Night procession in the Village and a concert by Gustafer Yellowgold at the Jewish Museum. But with the coming snow, hitting one of NYC's best sledding hills may be the top FREE fun option!
