Labor Day has excellent timing in that it gives you a chance to squeeze in one more trip before the back-to-school craziness takes over. Sure, the waters surrounding Houston may not be the clearest, but there is still something magical about being among the waves. I've always considered myself lucky to live in a city near the sea; as a kid, we would often take boat rides around Galveston, and I wish we knew back then about boating opportunities within Houston's city limits. Boat rides make for great activities for any season, from spring to summer to fall. These six options are all family friendly and include both free and ticketed rides.

One of the many great things about living in the greater Houston area is that we are surrounded by small towns and communities full of history, attractions, and fun things to do. Tomball is northwest of Houston and can be accessed from Highway 249, and is the perfect spot for a morning or day out with the kids. It's this universal truth that makes laser tag such an appealing activity for kids and adults - it gets you moving (like, really moving), and simulates on-screen experiences in real time. There are some great options in Houston where kids, both young and old, can play this high-energy game.

Pups! PAW Patrol is headed to the stage for a live national tour hitting 90 U.S. cities, including Houston, and tickets go on sale to the general public Monday, May 22, 2017. The hit Nickelodeon animated show featuring a pack of curious and adventure-loving dogs opens in November.
PAW Patrol Live! Race to the Rescue, a Nickelodeon and VStar Entertainment Group (the same folks behind Sesame Street Live) co-production, will rely on live actors in costumes, although producers tell us that it will also incorporate the popular Bunraku puppet styling. The “pups” will sing and dance on all four legs.

The Aquarium Pyramid at Moody Gardens in Galveston is up and running again with new exhibits for the whole family, including an interactive lagoon and new penguin exhibit (let's be honest - the penguins are the best part of any aquarium).
