Get Merry and Go Round on Unique Carousels with NJ Kids

Submitted by Danielle Halibey on Mon, 05/07/2018 - 2:00pm

With all the crazy thrill rides found in theme parks these days, there’s something simply magical about taking a spin on an old-fashioned carousel. Often one of the first rides a child gets to experience, carousels have a special way of making even the most timid tiny ones crack a smile, and they’re a treat for all ages. New Jersey is home to both traditional and turned-up-a-notch carousels, and you don’t have to trek far to find one. Hop on a carousel at one of the area malls for a year-round shopping distraction, go for a spin in a park or zoo, or catch views of the Atlantic from a Jersey shore carousel on the Boardwalk.

We’ve rounded up 15 of the best and most unique carousels in and around NJ, so pack up your little ponies and give them a whirl.

Weehawken's Play City is a Metro-Themed Fun Zone for NJ Kids

Submitted by Danielle Halibey on Thu, 01/25/2018 - 6:00pm

Just a few months ago, I was chatting with one of my mommy friends about how our lives had flipped upside down since our little ones started crawling. I said I wished my home was up to the task—in my mind, that meant it would be equipped with wall-to-wall foam padding and enough color and sensory stimuli to keep my infant son safe and occupied from sun up to sun down. Well, I finally found the muse to match my imagination. And all it took to stumble upon this gem of an indoor play space was a snowy, yet not-too-cold-to-keep-us-homebound hump day, and one ambitious crawler. We were prepped and primed for play, and Play City in Weehawken was ready for us!

Submitted by Danielle Halibey on Fri, 01/05/2018 - 1:19pm

Many of the horse camps also offer traditional summer camp activities, such as swimming and arts and crafts, along with mini July sessions (for children who are just getting in the saddle for the first time, and not quite ready for a full week of equestrian adventuring) and both half and full-day itineraries. To find more New Jersey summer camps, be sure to check out our Camp Guide and Full Directory of Listings.

Revamped Garden State Plaza Play Space Takes Kids Down the Shore

Submitted by Danielle Halibey on Thu, 12/07/2017 - 3:08pm

It’s hard to believe I started my Christmas shopping early this year, with a 9-month-old baby boy at home gobbling up all of our bananas and mama’s free time (in the best way possible). But in a twist of fate, I found myself at the Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey, this past Saturday. After a full morning of indoor mall shopping, I wolfed down some Wetzel’s Pretzel bites and wound up introducing my little guy to his first social indoor play space experience at GSP's totally revamped Westfield Family PlaySpace.
