Every year it seems like Philadelphia gets better and better with more things to see and do for local families and tourists alike. Major initiatives for the city include expanded green space, which often means new opportunities to get out and play. Outdoor events are always a big draw and each year the calendar seems to have more to offer in terms of destinations to experience art and culture. 2018 is no different, in addition to the usual festivals and events that you can look forward to year after year, there are some exciting openings and events that make it a good year to be in Philadelphia.

Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit is now open at the Please Touch Museum. This awesome exhibit features a complete reproduction of the sets from the fantastic PBS Kid’s show, making it the largest-ever temporary exhibit to come to the beloved children’s museum. The exhibit includes five hands-on areas that have interesting ways for kids to engage in STEM-learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Throughout the exhibit your little scientists will be encouraged to ask questions, explore, test theories, and play while taking part in interactive lessons that tackle basic science questions. Designed for ages 2-8, the exhibit is also full of good old-fashioned fun, with climbing structures and slides.

Philly Playground Crawl: How Many Can You Visit in Just One Day?

Submitted by Lindsay Li on Wed, 08/23/2017 - 9:07am

The dog days of summer are coming to an end. You can almost smell the fall in the air, and humidity levels are dropping (hooray!). Which means it is time to check off that summer bucket list before the kids head back to school and the days get shorter. One way to celebrate time with your kids is to take a page from your college days and go on a crawl—only this time, hit up the best parks and playgrounds in walking distance. There are plenty of great parks to play in, but we picked a few neighborhoods and areas that have some of the best parks in walking distance. Grab the stroller, pack a lunch (or follow our advice on where to get lunch), and get crawling!
