Weekend Fun for Westchester Kids: Chanukah, Christmas on the Farm, Winter Wildflowers, Dec. 12-13
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and Chanukah, as evidenced by the abundance of holiday happenings in Westchester and the Hudson Valley!
The recurring holiday events taking place throughout the month are now supplemented with a fresh batch of holiday fanfare, including Dickens' Christmas Carol and a new holiday musical: Pageant. For a nature-themed holiday excursion, there’s Christmas on the Farm, as well as the chance to get crafty with your centerpiece at Winter Wildflower Arrangements. There are also several Hanukkah events rounding out the weekend.

The Hanukkah Challenge – Pleasantville
This family-friendly event will feature trivia, contests, food and music—including make-your-own candy dreidel. A menorah-lighting will conclude the event, and participants are encouraged to bring their own.
Chanukah on Ice – Larchmont
Help carve and light a giant ice menorah in this cool (no pun intended) Hanukkah event at an ice-skating rink.
Beyond Westchester
Ballerina Swan begins a three-week run in Manhattan this weekend, providing a family-friendly introduction to ballet. This production is set to Tchaikovsky's glorious Swan Lake and tells the tale of a Central Park swan who yearns to do ballet through a mix of theater and dance.
An offbeat alternative to traditional Christmas caroling, Unsilent Night attendees help create a "sound sculpture" by blasting the music of avant-garde composer Phil Kline. Participants broadcast one of the four parts of Kline's Unsilent Night score on boomboxes, smartphones or MP3 players as they parade from Washington Square Park to Tompkins Square Park. FREE
