Dia y Noche de los Muertos at Hollywood Forever
The annual Día de los Muertos event at Los Angeles’s oldest memorial park celebrates the memories of the loved ones with ceremonial tributes and memorable altar creations amidst some of the city's most famous departed.
"Dia de los Muertos” and “Noche de los Muertos” are two separate ticketed events in 2022. The daytime event is geared more towards children and families, but both events are open to all ages.
Both events include traditional dance and cultural performers, altars, art exhibitions, and culinary vendors. The daytime event also features performances by Bob Baker Marionette Theatre, face painting, and arts & crafts vendors. (See website for activity times.) Families are encouraged to attend in Day of the Dead attire.
Children 5 and up require a ticket. No pets, food, or alcohol may be brought onto the grounds.
Event hours are
Dia de los Muertos
9am-3pm
Noche de los Muertos
5pm-12 midnight.
This year's theme is Mayahuel – The Maguey Goddess. Mayahuel is the Aztec Goddess of Fertility, the Maguey (Agave), and the ruler of the 8th day and the 8th year. She brings us Love, Magic, and Transformation. She has dominion over Earth, the Night Sky, hallucinations, and intoxications: the Centzon Totochtin, 400 Drunken Rabbit Gods, are her children. Hollywood Forever's Día de los Muertos 2022 event acknowledges the griefs and miseries of recent years, gathering to celebrate the Gifts of Mayahuel and summon better days.
