Best Amusement Parks in Nassau County for Families

Bayville Adventure Park – Bayville

Open April through August; plus select dates for special events in the fall ​and winter
A true, not-so-buried treasure, this pirate-themed amusement park is located across from Bayville Beach. In addition to its exciting amusement park rides and attractions like the Lost Treasure of Captain Blackheart Bay Adventure Mini Golf, Bumper Boat Safari, and Tomb Stone Creek Treasure Hunt, it also offers a Jungle Tree Top Adventure ropes course and Bradley Bay's Rock Climbing Challenge. Three on-site restaurants should satisfy the cravings of pirates big and small. Open through August; the amusement park transforms into Bayville Scream Park in September and Bayville Winter Wonderland in November. Birthday party packages are available.

Families have been enjoying the rides, attractions, and games at this amusement park on Long Island since 1962. Chances are you visited Adventureland back in the day. From big-kid amusement park rides that thrill, such as the Turbulence and Rattlesnake coasters, Frisbee, and Mystery Mansion, to its collection of kiddie rides, Adventureland provides amusement park fun for the entire family. Check out the newest attraction, FireBall, slated to open sometime this season. A unique twist on a roller coaster, it's a one-of-its-kind amusement park attraction. There are three water rides, a tokenless indoor arcade, midway games, a gift shop, a sit-down, family-style, restaurant, and plenty of snack stands. Also, new this year: Parents can grab an adult beverage at Tony's Tavern. Guests can visit Aventureland's City Hall for general info, special-needs accommodations, first aid, and more. Birthday party packages are available. Take note: Chaperones can take advantage of a cheaper, adults-only pass. Save money by purchasing online in advance.

Country Fair Entertainment Park – Medford

Open daily March-November, weather permitting
There is so much to do at this amusement park on Long Island, your family won’t know where to start. There is a figure-eight go-kart track, two mini-golf courses, a 30-bay driving range, batting cages, an outdoor laser tag field (opens in June), and an arcade. The Spin Zone bumper cars will have the whole family spinning in circles. An on-site restaurant serves brick-oven pizza, burgers, and ice cream. In addition to birthday party packages, the park also offers year-round catering for large affairs, from weddings to company events and Sweet 16s.

Splish Splash – Calverton

Opens for the season on Saturday, May 28; the season ends in September
Take the Long Island Expressway to Exit 72 and head straight to Splish Splash, Long Island's favorite family-friendly water amusement park. Its 95-plus acres include water slides and other rides and attractions. The 2022 season bring a new Hyperlight waterslide, which promises a light-and-sound experience before you splashdown. For those daring (and tall) enough, there’s Abyss, and a unique water coaster, Bootleggers Run. On Riptide Racer, four guests line up on mats and race to the finish line—headfirst. Bombs Away features dueling 300-foot slides perched on a tower. Everyone can head to the Lazy River or Surf City for a more relaxing experience. A large kiddie area offers plenty to keep little ones cool and happy, including the Octopus Pool and Pirates Cove. There are a number of restaurants, snack bars, and gift shops. Take note: The park is moving to a cashless payment system this year. Cabanas and lockers are available for rent. Birthday party packages are also available.

Tiki Action Park is a local amusement park offering mini golf and more

Tiki Action Park – Centereach

Say aloha to a fun-filled day at Tiki Action Park, where your family can enjoy Hawaiian-inspired mini-golf, complete with waterfalls, caves, streams, Hawaiian music, and a 10-foot tiki fountain. There is a thrilling go-kart track, a Mission Impassable laser maze, and a flashy 45-game arcade that offers two-for-Tiki Tuesdays. Virtual reality pods include 120 video options. The park is available for birthday parties and other catered events, including after-prom parties and corporate outings. Its swanky bamboo lounge can comfortably accommodate parties up to 40, while a shaded picnic area can seat 250 or more. There’s an ice cream and snack bar and a gift shop stocked with Tiki-inspired apparel and collectibles.

Urban Air Trampoline Park is one of our favorite amusement parks on Long Island
Climb or jump high at Urban Air Trampoline Park.

Urban Air Adventure Park – Lake Grove

This 48,000-square foot indoor adventure park has something for kids of all ages. While the littlest members of your brood enjoy the indoor playground and trampolines, big kids (and their parents) can channel their inner ninja warrior on the 30-foot-high ropes course and climbing wall. At the Sky Rider coaster, guests are strapped into a harness and catapulted along a track that runs throughout the ceiling of the massive indoor amusement park—high above everyone else playing below. Catch some serious air in the Slam Dunk Zone, battle it out on jousting beams, and get dizzy in the Spin Zone bumper cars. Then fuel up at the Urban Cafe.
