- see all dates
A larger than life event deserves to be seen on the big screen. The Summer of Soul plays in a limited release engagement at the El Capitan. Part music film, part historical record, this documentary weaves together performance footage with interviews to shed light on this almost forgotten event.
Summer of Soul (...or, When the Revolution Could Not be Televised) tells the story of 1969's Harlem Culture Festival, a music festival that brought together an astounding lineup of legends and legends to be, including Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly & the Family Stone, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Mahalia Jackson, B.B. King, the 5th Dimension and many others.
El Capitan guests will be able to see a display of Harlem Cultural Festival memorabilia and receive a mini poster, while supplies last.
Daily showtimes for Summer of Soul are 10am, 1:15pm, 4:30pm, and 7:45pm.
