Indulge in a giant cannoli at the La Italia Fest.

Looking for an easy family road trip around the tristate area? Scranton, Pennsylvania, might be your solution. It's less than three hours from the New York City area and Philadelphia and is filled with classic family vacation fun.

It’s easy to add a stop in the Electric City if you’re planning a trip to the Poconos with the kids or a stay in one of its many family-friendly resorts. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by all that Scranton has to offer.

Though most people associate the city with the TV show The Office, this area boasts lots of year-round fun: skiing and tubing in winter, minor league baseball in spring, water slides in summer, hiking in fall—and plenty of unique cuisine.

Sweet Nostalgia: NJ Shops That Sell Retro Candy

Submitted by Elaine Paoloni ... on Thu, 03/07/2019 - 2:15pm

Candylicious in Randolph offers plenty of old-fashioned favorites (like candy buttons!).

Remember running to the corner candy store for a treat after school or on the weekend when visiting grandma or grandpa? There was nothing like selecting penny candy from the counter or searching the shelves for candy cigarettes that puffed out a cloud of sugar, oversized bright-red wax lips, and sugar ball–filled Satellite Saucers that doubled as mini maracas.

Many of the old-fashioned candy items parents and grandparents enjoyed as kids are still available today at specialty stores. The throwback treats are a great way to relive your childhood with your own children— and bond over sugar. So, if your sweets supply has dwindled in the weeks between Valentine’s Day and Easter, here are some shops offering a variety of nostalgic fun and flavors.

The nine-acre, 165-room property will be located in central Pennsylvania's Lancaster County along Route 30. It will neighbor Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Park, which is also owned by Palace Entertainment, so a family could easily enjoy both attractions in one trip. It is the Cartoon Network's first themed hotel.

Seems like there's one more reason to plan a Pennsylvania weekend getaway with the kids.
