Nothing beats jumping into cold water when it's summertime in Atlanta. We have tons of public swimming pools, in addition to Swimming Lakes and Beaches Near Atlanta that are fun for families. Many of these local swimming pools have diving boards, water slides and splash areas for little ones, making them more engaging than your typical swim/tennis neighborhood pool. And did you know that you can hang out at certain Atlanta hotel pools without staying overnight? It's true. Several Atlanta hotels offer day passes for folks just looking to enjoy the posh amenities. Several Atlanta hotels offer day passes to their facilities or even day use rooms (including access to the hotel pool) so families can enjoy a daycation.

When Atlanta parents need a solution for summertime boredom but aren't quite ready for a Disney-level extravaganza, why not plan a summer day trip? Yes, just one full day that is sure to entertain and wear out the kids. Luckily, Atlanta is centrally located between lots of fun, easy-to-visit destinations. Our criteria for this summer day trip list? They are located about two hours by car from Atlanta; the destinations include summertime activities (preferably water-based ones); and they don't require overnight stays. All distances and times are from downtown Atlanta.

There are so many options for summer camps in Atlanta, How does one choose the best one?  We've picked our favorite amazing day camps for Atlanta kids —most of these are traditional summer camps with outdoor games, crafts, and swimming. All these Atlanta day camps run 9am-4pm (some even have extended hours if you need them). Camp themes typically change week to week so summer campers stay engaged and make awesome memories.

Peppa Pig fans are squealing with delight because their favorite pig and her friends (George, Pedro Pony, Suzy Sheep, and Gerald Giraffe) are coming to a live theater near you in Peppa Pig’s Adventure. The show is making stops in Red Bank, NJ on Wednesday, April 13 before heading up to Lowell, MA on April 16 and then stopping in Boston on May 1. We had the privilege of seeing the show when it stopped in Atlanta. Dressed in matching pink shirts adorned with their names, my crew headed to the theater with lots of giggles, anticipation, and cries of “How much longer until we see Peppa?”
