It's that special time of year, when thoughts turn to sweethearts and loved ones. Valentine's Day is on the horizon and kids in the Orlando area can get into the spirit with a number of great things to do this weekend.

Enjoy a Valentine's Day scavenger hunt in Winter Park, a family dance party in Celebration, crafts events in Oviedo and Longwood, and even a celebration with the Valentine's owls at the Avian Reconditioning Center.

Too early to think about Valentine's Day? Well, kids can enjoy theme-park good times at Universal and Epcot, and some FREE museum fun in Orlando.

Things to Do in Washington, DC This Weekend: Valentines, Harry Potter

It's that special time of year, where thoughts turn to sweethearts and loved ones. Valentine's Day is on the horizon and kids in the Washington, DC area can get into the spirit with a number of great things to do this weekend.

There's a card workshop at the National Postal Museum and a sweethearts dance with the animals in West Springfield, Virginia.

Too early to think about Valentine's Day? Well, you can enjoy theater in Silver Spring, Maryland, a "Harry Potter" scavenger hunt in DC, or perhaps get outside for some maple sugaring in Wheaton, Maryland.

Before you sit down for the big game, why not get up and out for some family fun. This weekend in Atlanta families can enjoy a stage adaptation of a Tolkien classic; museum thrills in Atlanta; and STEM activities in Decatur and Atlanta.

There's more family theater in Lawrenceville and Atlanta, and families can even go retro at an old-fashioned board game festival in Atlanta.

Before you sit down for the big game, why not get up and out for some family fun. This weekend in Orlando families can enjoy a winter carnival in, appropriately, Winter Springs; a nature walk in Apopka; sports clinics and magic shows.

Have a kid who loves cars and trucks? Check out the Central Florida Soap Box Derby or Touch a Truck event in Sanford.

Things to Do in Atlanta This Weekend: Chinese New Year, Pirate Festival

Atlanta families can celebrate the diversity of the city with great things to do all weekend. Chinese New Year celebrations shine a light on Asian culture and the contributions of Asian-Americans to Atlanta's development. The city's largest single-day celebration of Jewish culture takes center stage at the Georgia Aquarium, and kids can learn the fine art of block printing from an expert trained on the Indian subcontinent. 

Elsewhere, kids can enjoy a nature hike, storytelling, and pair of activities at the Fernbank Museum, including its annual Pirate Day celebration.

If you didn't notice, we're about halfway through winter in the Orlando area. Next weekend we'll be waiting anxiously for groundhogs all across the country to share their winter insights. In the meantime, families in the Orlando area can enjoy a diversity of great things to do all weekend.

Celebrate with Central Florida's emerging Brazilian community at I-Drive Nascar; enjoy an inaugural music festival in Thornton Park; or join TVs Daniel Tiger and his friends on an adventure at the Bob Carr Theater.

Chinese New Year celebrations shine a light on Asian culture and the contributions of Asian-Americans to America's development. Kids can learn about games played by the country's indigenous peoples, and some of the innovative ways humans learned to travel around their communities.  

Elsewhere, kids can enjoy a celebration of photography and STEM open house in DC, drop-in art making in Baltimore, and even a cookie baking workshop in Sterling, Virginia.
