Get outside and enjoy nature this Veterans Day weekend; explore the National Parks for free, or take a walk in the woods in Medfield, before getting into the holiday spirit and crafting unique circle ornaments in Waltham. Young kids can learn to appreciate the orchestra at the BSYO's family-friendly performance of Peter and the Wolf, and the always popular magician, Mike The Bubble Man, is back at the Coolidge Theater. This is also the last weekend to check out Art Ramble in Concord, where young appreciators of art (including Fido) can explore installations by local artists on a walk through the woods.

America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration come to Plymouth. Our National Parks offer free admission. And the holiday season launches with a free tree lighting festival at Patriot Place. Here are our picks for fall fests, parades, and community fun that won't cost a thing.

This time of year, holiday markets are springing up all around the greater Boston area, from church fairs and school bazaars to high-end artist markets and craft fairs. We’ve highlighted fun finds that feature the handiwork of artisans and makers from both near and far. Many Boston holiday craft fairs and Christmas markets have extra attractions, like food and live entertainment. Santa will also be visiting some craft and gift fairs, like the Westport Magical Holiday Craft Fair Event, where kids can get their faces painted and take pictures with Santa. During the Sleigh Bells Concert and Fair weekend in Quincy, you can catch holiday songs featuring the South Shore Children's Chorus and South Shore Piano School while shopping for handknits and handmade goods. So, skip the lines at the mall, avoid delivery delays, and find some perfect holiday gifts while supporting Boston artists and crafters.

The best of November is here, and the top things to do in Boston with kids span two seasons! This month, fall beauty transitions into the excitement for approaching holidays and winter days. Thankfully, there are tons of terrific things to do in Boston with kids. Families can line up for the 2022 Boston Veterans Parade to honor those who have served. Kids can experience America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration in Plymouth or chow down at the New England Harvest Feast. 

The cool, crisp weather is an ideal time to enjoy free admission to National Parks or get outside for a Green Friday hike the day after Thanksgiving. Visits with Santa are also starting this month, with The Polar Express in Woonsocket, RI and The Train to Christmas Town on Cape Cod. Another event high on our list is the long-awaited 'Twas the Night Before Christmas performance from Cirque du Soleil.
