Earth Day festivities are popping up all over New Jersey, from Earth Day at Liberty State Park to Wild Earth Fest at the Trailside Nature Center to the Project E.A.R.T.H. Swamp Search at Basking Ridge Environmental Center. Keep the seasonal fun going by enjoying the Cape May Spring Festival, the WBGO Kids Jazz Concert Series or the Dia Multicultural Celebration. Hello, April! Even if you are a little rainy, we happily welcome the springtime weather and return of outdoor fun. If you’re looking to get the gang out of the house to celebrate Easter, NJ has lots of holiday happenings this weekend. Check out the Bunny Chase at Terhune Orchards, go for a traditional Easter egg hunt at historic Allaire Village or greet the holiday rabbit when he lands in an airplane at Solberg Airport's Easter Bunny Flies event. Now that spring is (finally!) in the air, we can't wait to make the most of milder temps and sunshine-filled days. All winter long (as we played with every toy in the house and exhausted every possibility in our arts and crafts bin), we've been dreaming of April, fresh flowers, birds chipping and, more than anything, open space to play and run! Our great state is filled with nature centers that make exploring the outdoors both educational and fun in any season. Even if the temperature is still a tad chilly, spring is most definitely in the air! Easter events are popping up all over, so hop aboard the Easter Express at Allaire State Park, fill up your baskets during an egg hunt at Oasis Family Farm and meet the Easter Bunny during a free event at historic Maywood Station. You can also celebrate the annual Holi Hai Indian Festival of Colors on the Jersey City waterfront, enjoy fantasy-themed activities at the Children’s Book Fair at the Monmouth County Library and learn all about space at Astro Day at the Morris Museum. For a dose of fresh, early spring air, head to Manasquan Environmental Center for their Monarch Butterflies program, take a Winter Weekend Scavenger Hunt at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum or lace up your sneakers for a Family Woodland Hike at NJ Botanical Gardens. March is an in-between month, with winter winding down but the mild weather of spring still a few weeks away. Luckily, there are plenty of events in NJ to keep families busy as we wait out the last of the snow and cold. St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and the festivities and parades are already starting: head down the shore and check out the Ocean County St. Patrick’s Day Parade or the Asbury Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade. For some fun mixed in with learning, drop by Manasquan Reservoir for a slithery Snake Meet & Greet, visit Sesame Street Presents: The Body at Liberty Science Center or sign up to help create the city of Montclair out of LEGOs during the Building Montclair workshop at MAM.
