We’ve rounded up some of the best mommy-and-me classes on Long Island, ideal if you want to to stay fit or learn a new craft. You and your baby will have fun, meet other moms and tots, and, most importantly, spend precious time together.

On the first weekend of summer, celebrate the diversity of Long Island on the Long Beach boardwalk with weekend events and activities at Long Island Pride Weekend.

Elsewhere on Long Island this weekend, get up close and personal with some of your favorite Long Island Sound marine critters at the Whaling Museum and Education Center, featuring a special visit from The Waterfront Center.

Children can make ice cream, French toast, pickles, and lemonade along with other hands-on activities with Old Bethpage Village Restoration staff.

Enjoy performances, birthday parties for kids, and readings of the poet's most celebrated works as you celebrate Walt Whitman's bicentennial birthday at the Walt Whitman Birthplace State Historic Site.
