Let's celebrate an extra day of fabulous February! The Franklin Park Zoo is recognizing leap year by showcasing jumping animals among its World Wildlife Day activities. If you're looking for a party, head to the Boston Children's Museum's annual Silly Soiree. Our favorite miniature train exhibition is having its annual open house this weekend, too. Movie fans won't want to miss the New England Onward Pixar Marathon, while puppets take to the stage in Lisa the Wise, The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish, and Tanglewood Marionettes Puppet Show: Sleeping Beauty.

The maple syrup is flowing and MP knows where you can find it! Take a tour in Topsfield, celebrate Maple Magic Day, or travel back in time to Maple Days at Old Sturbridge Village.

Solve mysteries at Franklin Park's ZOOdunnit as well as at the Great Chocolate Train Wreck Mystery. Appreciate the winter outdoors in Boston by visiting the Lowell Winterfest, going on a Winter Wander, taking a Winter Harbor Cruise, and being active at the Franklin Park Coalition Winter Games.

Finally, be sure to celebrate diversity with song and stories at the Children's Museum program, Play Songs and Games with Castle of Our Skins. Check out the Children's Museum's sparkling new PlaySpace for babies and toddlers while there!

Science, sweets, and fiber; quite a mix of activities on the calendar this weekend. Learn about how African-Americans aided in the start of the American Revolution in these African-American Patriot Tours.  Get your groove on at not one but two dance parties including the Pinkalicious Valentine's Party and the Purple Party (featuring the music of Prince!). Speaking of Valentine's, get into the spirit of Love Day at Salem's So Sweet chocolate festival, this Tunnel of Love, and this annual event at Spellman's Museum of Stamps.

It's officially 2020 and there are plenty of family activities to kick off the new year. For families looking for a fresh start, check out the New Years Resolution Scavenger Hunt, which sends visitors on a scenic course through the grounds of the Stevens-Coolidge Place. This animal-themed scavenger hunt is indoors, and happening closer to Boston. For more fresh-start fun, decorate crowns at the Three Kings Day Parranda and Celebration or celebrate the Epiphany (with a clown!) at the Festa della Befana.

Winter activities are in full swing, whether there is snow on the ground or not. Have a hearty farmhouse feast at Verrill Farm's annual Pancake Breakfast, and hopefully there will be snow on the ground for the Sledding and Cocoa event at Danehy Park. Need more family fun ideas? Check out our full events calendar.
